Allow roughly 20–45 minutes for photographs, or about 1–2 hours if you are also exploring the town, excluding travel. These are planning suggestions rather than fixed visit times.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur photography suggestion is to try the later afternoon, when western light can reveal detail on slopes facing the Salton Sea. A longer lens helps isolate the ridges; a wider composition can include homes, palms or the desert plain to show scale. Strong haze, blowing dust and midday shimmer can obscure distant detail.
