In 2022, 69 wild desert tortoise hatchlings and eggs from Edwards Air Force Base arrived at Tennity Wildlife Hospital, where they were cared for in a protected, temperature-controlled environment with incubators, warm habitats, and nutrient-rich diets. This helped the hatchlings grow much faster than they typically would in the wild, reducing their vulnerability to predators and improving their chances of surviving to reproductive age.
