Salton Sea State Recreation Area

It is situated along the northeastern shore of the Salton Sea. Once a popular destination for hiking, camping, and water activities, it is now a deserted beach with no living fish and unsafe water to swim or boat on.

You can walk around the nearby beach area, which still hosts many birds and epic mountain/lake views. However, most activities are closed.

🚐: Camping is available but not very active; it is a quiet stay.

The visitor center, still open to the public, is a museum that eerily showcases the park's vibrant past. It features a rich collection of exhibits from when the park buzzed with guests and boasted diverse aquatic activities and fish species.
