Consolidated P4Y-2 Privateer

Consolidated P4Y-2 Privateer

A maritime patrol bomber developed by the U.S. Navy during World War II. Based on the B-24 Liberator, it features significant modifications including a single vertical tail fin, an elongated fuselage, and enhanced armament designed for naval missions. Initially used for anti-submarine warfare and reconnaissance, the Privateer played a crucial role in the Pacific Theater. Post-war, it continued service with the U.S. Coast Guard for search and rescue operations. The Privateer remains a rare aircraft today, with very few surviving examples, and is celebrated for its unique design and historical significance in naval aviation.
