With over 11 years of experience selling homes in Trilogy Polo ClubΒ and now more than 2Β years living onsite, my perspective is unique. In sales, I learned never to sell something I wouldn’t recommend to my own mother. Trilogy Polo Club passes that test with flying colors.

Trilogy Polo Club is a master‑planned community of 1,070 homes, completed in 2025 by Shea Homes β€” the country’s largest family‑owned builder. At its heart is a 25,000‑sq‑ft clubhouse, designed to feel like an extension of home: a hub for fitness, dining, activities, and friendships, especially after retirement.

Community & Lifestyle: Trilogy Polo Club offers resort-style living with a 25,000 sq-ft clubhouse, fitness, dining, pickleball, pool, and events β€” all under $500/month.

Daily Living: Safe, walkable streets, an active social scene, and an extensive amenities package; State-of-the-art design for the housing, common space, and clubhouse amenities.

Residents: ~70% full-time retirees, ~30% part-time/investment, with a smaller β€œall ages” zone; mostly 55+, but younger families and couples do live here.

Why I Chose It: Shea’s quality construction, state-of-the-art design (completed 2025), low utility costs, traditional yards for pets, and authentic lifestyle fit.

Lifestyle & Amenities

Daily life often revolves around the clubhouse. I see familiar faces at the gym, pool, pickleball courts, or June Hills Table. It’s close, safe, and simple. Importantly, the clubhouse isn’t a β€œdaycare for the elderly” β€” it’s more like a year‑round summer camp for adults. Classes, events, clubs, and games keep life full.

  • Cost: Thanks to Shea’s design and the size of the community, HOA + club fees stay under $500/month.

Using The Clubhouse

How I Use The Clubhouse

For me, the clubhouse is an extension of my home:

  • Hosting friends at June Hills or reserving the golf simulator.

  • Relaxing poolside with cabanas and food service.

  • Having friends over for pickleball drills or games.Β

How Retired Residents Use The Clubhouse

For retirees, the clubhouse often becomes a daily rhythm: exercise, meals, and long-lasting friendships all within walking distance.

  • Daily gym sessions: Views of the pool and mountain tops. Workout classes.Β
  • Resort Pool: Almost always, residents are socializing in the resort pool, often with a cocktail in hand.
  • Lap Pool: Reservations are made through the community website. The pool is chilled in the summer and heated during the winter.Β
  • Pickleball: Every morning, 12 months of the year, drop-in games are available for all ages. A few years ago, the pickleball club surpassed the wine club in numbers, placing them in the top spot for the largest club within the community.
  • Social Events: Concerts, Bingo, Cards, Clubs, Cooking Classes, Wine Tastings, Live Music, and dining at June Hills, Sip & Paint, are a few that come to mind.Β

Walking The Community

One of the biggest perks is walking inside the gates. The landscape design keeps routes fresh, and safety is high thanks to limited traffic and other walkers nearby. I used to drive elsewhere for walks β€” now I just open my front door.Β

  • Daytime: Best in fall, winter, and spring when temps are mild.

  • Summer: Residents walk early mornings or evenings. My wife and I prefer evenings once the sun slips behind the San Jacinto Mountains. Heat radiates off the streets far less, and traffic drops to almost nothing. With headlamps and awareness, night walks are safe and refreshing.

  • Tip: Don’t stay cooped up in AC all summer β€” fresh air changes everything.

Who Lives Here?

The large majority of people moving in are coming from Southern California beach towns. Often, their children have recently left the house, and they choose Trilogy Polo Club to start a new chapter in their lives. A lot of them are "real estate millionaires" who have built enormous amounts of equity with their beach homes. Often, I work with buyers who sell their home by the beach, and then at the same time, transfer those funds for a cash purchase in Trilogy Polo Club.Β

  • ~70%Β full‑time residents, mostly retired.

  • ~30% second homes or investments.

  • β€œall ages” homes, separated into their own zone within the same gate. Families are rare, but possible. My wife and I (mid‑30s, no kids) live here alongside a handful of families. The majority remains 55+.

What Is Near By?

Restaurants & Shopping

My most visited location for shopping, dining, and entertainment is Old Town La Quinta and Highway 111 for the day-to-day, and for weekly or bi-weekly,Β El Paseo and The River. The roads for everything West of Trilogy Polo Club are modern and efficient. Between Highway 111 and Fred Waring, 12 months of the year, I navigate to Palm Desert a few different times a week for various activities and tasks, and with little difference in my drive times, but summer is definitely much quieter. It is not common for residents to visit Palm Springs because of the rich selection nearby.Β

Nature

The Coachella Valley, sitting along the Pacific Flyway, is one of California’s best winter birding destinations, drawing colorful warblers, hummingbirds, egrets, hawks, and rare visitors to spots like the Salton Sea, Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, The Living Desert, and Lake Cahuilla. Just 40 minutes from Trilogy Polo Club, the Cottonwood Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park provides quick access to stunning sunsets at Keys View and flexible routes through the park’s high and low elevations. Beyond birding and national parks, the desert reveals its richness through native flora, fauna, and Cahuilla history. At the same time, nearby La Quinta Cove offers miles of hiking with sweeping Santa Rosa MountainΒ views and trails that showcase the region’s native landscape.

Our Experience So Far

Why We Chose Trilogy Polo Club

When my wife and I searched, our finalists were Trilogy Polo Club and Laguna De La Paz. Here’s why Trilogy Polo Club won:

  1. Built by Shea – Decades of quality, no corners cut. After 100+ inspections, I’ve never seen shortcuts.

  2. State‑of‑the‑Art – Finished in 2025, with all the minor improvements that add up over time. It's like upgrading to a new iPhone versus keeping an old one.

    • Insider Tip: Indio runs on IID (nonprofit utility) β€” my peak summer electricity bill was $354 running AC at 74–75Β°. Without EVs, it’d be closer to $200.

  3. Sales Advantage – Living here boosts my ability to describe it authentically. That authenticity has also helped my wife and me become top producers in this community. Being onsite allows for us to easily manage showings and everyday tasks.
  4. Backyard for Our Dog – Traditional yards are plentiful here. Our Labradoodle is happier than ever, and we love exploring the community together.
  5. Safe Place To Go For A WalkΒ - I wanted to find a place large enough to explore, and where my wife felt safe on her own. The gates help keep out random people parking their cars and "hanging out" around the community and being that the walking culture here is healthy, there is often other residents around providing a safer environment for all.

What I Wish Was Better

My list of complaints is short. I really do appreciate living in Trilogy Polo Club, and it never gets old. But no place is perfect.

  1. Customer Service: There are some places where you have to create your own service. At times, it can feel like that here. It's not that the staff is rude, it's that they are over-loaded. Affordable country club living comes at the expense of hands-on, personal service that mirrors the Ritz-Carlton, or perhaps the way I treat my real estate clients, but I get paid much more. I learned to work around it, and I am happy. The online portal allows me to reserve classes, lap lanes, etc, and I typically dance around the times when the clubhouse is busy. Perhaps someday, if I seek a more hands-on service, I can upgrade to Toscana, Andalusia, or The Tradition.Β Β
  2. No Sidewalks On Every Street: Before moving to Trilogy Polo Club, I labeled this as a minor detail. But after spending more time onsite, I have elevated this subject to a medium detail. The majority of streets do not have a sidewalk. But if you take a look at the walking trails map embedded on this page, you can see that the dirt walking paths funnel you to the clubhouse and off the street. Being that this community is so actively a walking community, it is still sometimes troublesome because a decent amount of time is still spent walking in the street with cars and no sidewalk.
