Chiron Burl

Chiron Burl is a professional pickleball player and head pro at The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, CA. The highest rated player in Coachella Valley “5.9 DUPR” and hailing from La Cañada. Blending a lethal, highly unorthodox physical playing style with a hyper-analytical brain, he is an ascending force on the professional circuit.

The Engineer and Chess Master

A former UCLA electrical engineering student and a childhood chess prodigy (who was ranked in the top 50 at age eight), Chiron approaches pickleball like a grandmaster. He applies an "engineering mindset" to the court, constantly testing theories, analyzing body mechanics, and diagnosing the underlying causes of errors. His strategic brilliance is rooted in a deep understanding of court geometry—such as the "rule of the triangle"—allowing him to expertly predict angles and limit his opponents' options during speed-ups and hand battles. He is a master of reading player tendencies, easily spotting telegraphed moves like backhand flicks to bait attacks and lay devastating traps.

The Unbreakable "Scorpion"

Armed with a highly unconventional Far Over Eastern grip, Chiron is renowned for his legendary "Scorpion" defense, which makes him practically impossible to speed up against. By holding his paddle with his index finger high in a "trigger grip," he wields unparalleled paddle control, feeling, and raw power. Because his grip allows him to cover almost anything below net height with a forehand, he doesn't need to waste time switching to a backhand. When opponents attack, Chiron doesn't retreat; he intercepts the ball incredibly early out of the air, using a firm shoulder push to fire speed-ups back at his opponents with blistering, punishing velocity.

The Methodical Competitor

A disciple of elite mechanics coach Morgan Evans, Chiron is a relentless student of the game who drills daily with top-tier talent like top-20 pro Jill Braverman. He brings a hyper-competitive, "best player on the court" mentality to tournaments, but deliberately shifts gears during rec games—using them to experiment, test new techniques, and grow rather than just hunting for easy wins.
