Size & Looks: About 9–11 inches long with a slim body, long tail, and striking white wing patches. Gray on top, pale below.
Vocal Talent: Famous for mimicking other birds, machinery sounds, and even barking dogs. Males sing loudly to claim territory.
Bold Behavior: Very territorial. Will chase off larger birds, cats, or even people to protect its nest.
Habitat: Common across North America, including deserts like the Coachella Valley. Adapts well to urban areas, gardens, and open spaces.
Diet: Omnivorous. Eats insects (beetles, grasshoppers) and fruits/berries, sometimes nectar.
Reproduction: Monogamous. Males start the nest; females finish it. Typically 2–6 eggs, both parents defend and feed the young.
