Coachella Library

The Coachella Library is a welcoming civic landmark in the heart of Pueblo Viejo, the city’s historic downtown district. Its Spanish Revival–inspired architecture features graceful arches, clay-tile roofs, shaded outdoor spaces and a prominent bell tower that rises above Sixth Street.

Coachella’s public library dates to 1957, when it operated from City Hall. It later occupied a former church before moving into this purpose-built facility in 2018. The larger library reflects the city’s investment in education, culture and the continuing revitalization of downtown Coachella.

Inside, visitors will find dedicated reading and study areas, community programming, a growing Spanish-language collection and materials connected to the César E. Chávez National Monument. The library is also home to Laurence Neufeld’s large Vineyard Harvest mural, an artwork that connects the building to the agricultural heritage of the Eastern Coachella Valley.

Surrounded by public art, civic buildings and gathering spaces, the Coachella Library is both a community resource and an excellent starting point for exploring Pueblo Viejo.
