Known scientifically as *Vanellus spinosus*, a striking bird characterized by its bold black and white plumage and distinctive red eye-ring. Native to Africa and parts of the Middle East, it frequents wetlands and shallow water regions. Notable for the small spurs hidden in its wings, this bird is defensive of its territory, especially during breeding season. The Spur-winged Lapwing is also recognized for its loud, penetrating calls that resonate in its natural habitats at dawn and dusk.
