Ironwood Country Club brings golf, racquet sports and a varied residential community into the foothills of South Palm Desert. The Santa Rosa Mountains form the backdrop, while fairways, palms and established neighborhoods spread across the lower slopes.
A foothill setting in South Palm Desert
The setting is one of Ironwood’s defining features. Mark Miller’s photographs show the relationship between the homes, golf corridors and rocky hills, along with the clubhouse and racquet facilities. Wider aerial views help place the neighborhoods in context; closer photographs reveal differences in building form, patios and shared outdoor space.
Ironwood’s address is 73-735 Irontree Drive. The surrounding South Palm Desert area connects the community with El Paseo and the city’s foothill landscape.
Two golf courses with different personalities
Ironwood has two private 18-hole courses. The South Course is a par-72 layout with a longer championship setup, while the par-71 North Course emphasizes placement and accuracy. Both make use of the rolling desert setting.
The courses originated with designs by Desmond Muirhead and Ted Robinson, with Arnold Palmer involved as a consultant. Architect John Fought later redesigned several holes. Practice facilities include a double-sided driving range, short-game areas and putting greens.
Racquet sports, wellness and social life
The club’s recreation extends well beyond golf. It lists nine tennis courts, ten pickleball courts, POP tennis, bocce, a wellness center, group exercise and spa services. The photographs here include the tennis complex, its stadium court and the pickleball courts.
Dining, social events and interest groups add another layer to club life. Activities include art, bridge, cycling, hiking and wine groups, giving members ways to participate outside organized sport.
Homes and ownership
Ironwood includes condominium and single-family home options across distinct residential associations. The photographs show why comparisons should start with the specific neighborhood: some homes share broad lawns and nearby pools, while others have a different relationship to the fairways and streets.
Compare the residence’s floor plan, outdoor exposure, renovation history and association responsibilities alongside its location. A golf-course outlook, proximity to recreation and the amount of shared outdoor space can create quite different day-to-day experiences within the same community.
Club membership and HOA costs
Ironwood is a member-owned private club established in 1973. Its published membership options include Regular Proprietary Golf, an age-qualified Executive Golf category and Social Membership with limited golf privileges.
A home’s HOA assessment and a club membership cover different things. Confirm the specific association’s current assessment and maintenance coverage, then separately establish the membership category, availability, initiation payment and ongoing club charges. Membership eligibility and privileges should be confirmed with the club for the proposed purchase; this page does not quote unverified current fees.
