You do not need to collect art to enjoy the La Quinta Art Celebration. Come to browse, meet the people behind the work, and spend a few unhurried hours in one of the city's most inviting outdoor settings. You may leave with a painting, a small handmade piece, or simply a better sense of what catches your eye.

Held at La Quinta Civic Center Campus, the celebration brings juried artists together with food, drinks, and live music. This guide covers the next dates, what admission buys you, how to plan your visit, and where the event fits into La Quinta's longer art story.

  • Next event: Encore, November 12–15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
  • Tickets: currently listed at $25 for one day or $30 for all four days; children under 12 enter free with an adult.
  • The experience: original artwork, conversations with artists, live music, and a lakeside park setting.
  • Make a day of it: pair your visit with Old Town La Quinta; leave room to browse without rushing.

Upcoming dates & tickets

The next edition is La Quinta Art Celebration Encore, November 12–15, 2026. The organizer also lists March 4–7, 2027 for the spring celebration. Both use La Quinta Civic Center Campus; check the edition you intend to attend before buying.

Official tickets & latest details

What the celebration is like

Think of it as a collection of outdoor galleries. Artists are selected through a jury process, with work spanning media such as painting, sculpture, photography, glass, ceramics, and jewelry. Walking from one exhibit to the next lets you compare styles, materials, and scale in a way that a phone screen cannot.

The setting is part of the appeal. The organizer describes a 14-acre venue with walking paths, lakes, palms, and mountain views. Take your time between booths rather than treating the grounds as a checklist.

Live music and the Celebration Bistro give you a reason to pause. Food and beverage offerings and the performance lineup can change between editions, so use the official experience page for the current selection.

Our suggested pace: set aside about two to three hours for a first look, with more time if you enjoy long artist conversations or plan to shop seriously. This is a planning suggestion, not a required visit length.

2D Mixed Media & Digital

Layered surfaces, collage and digitally developed images can sit under this broad heading.

At the booth: Ask which parts are handmade or digital, and whether the piece is unique or editioned.

3D Mixed Media

These works combine materials in forms that extend into space.

At the booth: Look at the joins and viewing angles. Ask how the materials age and how to display the work.

Ceramics

Clay can become a sculptural object or something made for everyday use.

At the booth: Ask whether a vessel is decorative or food-safe, and how to clean and handle it.

Drawing, Pastel & Printmaking

Line, pigment and printmaking offer very different surfaces even within this shared category.

At the booth: Ask whether a print is an original printmaking work or a reproduction, and discuss framing and light exposure.

Fiber

Woven, stitched, felted or otherwise worked fibers bring texture to wearable and display pieces.

At the booth: Ask about cleaning, sunlight and support when hanging or storing the piece.

Glass

Color, transparency and reflected light can transform glass as you move around it.

At the booth: Ask about the making process, weight, stable placement and safe transport.

Jewelry

Wearable art rewards close attention to materials, construction and fit.

At the booth: Ask about metals, stones, sizing, clasp care and any maintenance the finish needs.

Painting

Brushwork, layers and scale are often much easier to appreciate in person.

At the booth: Step back, then look closely. Ask about the medium, varnish, framing and care.

Photography

Paper, printing process and scale all shape the finished photographic work.

At the booth: Ask about edition size, printing materials, framing and recommended light conditions.

Sculpture

Walk around a piece to understand its volume, balance and changing silhouette.

At the booth: Ask whether it is suitable indoors or outdoors, and about its base, installation and delivery.

Wood

Grain, carving, turning and joinery can be central to the experience of a wooden work.

At the booth: Ask about finishes, humidity, sunlight and whether any maintenance is recommended.

Parking, accessibility & what to bring

The venue is the La Quinta Civic Center Campus, near Washington Street and Calle Tampico. It is a different destination from the Civic Center Park in Palm Desert. Follow the organizer's event directions and posted parking signs on arrival.

The official parking page currently lists $10 self-parking, $15 valet parking, and free parking in the Village of La Quinta. Spaces and walking distances vary; use designated public parking and respect posted restrictions.

Open official directions & parking information · Explore the Civic Center Campus

Accessibility: Visit Greater Palm Springs lists the event site as accessible and identifies accessible parking. For a specific drop-off, mobility-device route, seating need, or parking question, confirm the current arrangement with the organizer at 760-628-7770 before your visit.

  • Dress for walking outdoors. Comfortable shoes, a hat, sun protection, and a light layer make it easier to stay as long as you like. Check the forecast before leaving.
  • Bring a credit card. The organizer's rules specify credit-card-only payment for food and beverages. Ask individual artists which payment methods they accept.
  • Leave pets at home. The published rule allows service dogs, but not pets.
  • Ask before photographing artwork. The event requires the artist's permission for photos or video of their work. For broader filming plans, check with the organizer too.

A simple approach to browsing & buying art

You can appreciate the show without knowing the vocabulary of fine art. Start with what makes you stop. Ask the artist what drew them to the subject, how the piece was made, or what changes when you see it in different light.

If you are considering a purchase for your home, a little preparation helps:

  1. Measure first. Bring the dimensions of the wall, shelf, or outdoor space, plus a photo of the room.
  2. Ask what you are buying. Is it a one-of-a-kind original, an edition, or a reproduction? Are framing and mounting included?
  3. Discuss care and placement. Ask about direct sun, moisture, cleaning, and whether the materials suit the intended location.
  4. Clarify the full arrangement. Confirm the price, delivery or shipping, installation, timing, and any return policy directly with the artist.

A custom commission may be an option with some artists. Ask about the process and get the agreed size, materials, price, and delivery expectations in writing. Availability and terms vary by artist.

The history: a long art tradition, distinct events

La Quinta's large outdoor art events reach back to 1983, when the La Quinta Arts Festival was created to attract visitors to the newly incorporated city. According to a June 2019 city announcement, Civic Center Park and surrounding areas had hosted that festival since 2005. The announcement also stated that the festival would not be held in 2020 after the La Quinta Arts Foundation chose not to renew its venue lease.

The La Quinta Art Celebration debuted in March 2020; the city's event listing records March 5–8 at the Civic Center. Today, the organizer lists spring and November Encore editions.

The names are easy to confuse, but they should not be treated as interchangeable. The Celebration's organizer explicitly states that the event is not affiliated with the La Quinta Arts Foundation or La Quinta Arts Festival. The older festival belongs in the city's art history; the current Celebration has its own identity.

There is also Art on Main Street, a separate, free series held in Old Town La Quinta on selected dates. It is an option for another art outing, not the name of the Civic Center celebration. Check the city's Art on Main Street listing for its schedule.
