Historic City Hall & Veterans Memorial Park

Historic Coachella City Hall and Veterans Memorial Park form a compact civic and cultural destination in the heart of Coachella. Dedicated in 1949, the historic City Hall building originally brought several public services together under one roof, including the city’s administrative offices, courthouse, post office, and police department. Although most municipal operations later moved to the newer Civic Center, the building remains an important physical connection to Coachella’s development and civic history.

In front of the building stands Motherhood, a figurative sculpture of a mother and son created by artist Juan Ramirez in 1993. The artwork adds a personal and human element to the civic setting, honoring the bond between parent and child while contributing to Coachella’s growing collection of public art.

Nearby Veterans Memorial Park provides a community gathering space dedicated to recognizing military service. The park also features Forgotten, Unforgettable, a Vietnam War memorial mural conceptualized by Coachella Valley artist Autumn Martino and unveiled in 2022. Together, the historic building, sculpture, park, and memorial artwork make this one location where visitors can experience several layers of Coachella’s civic identity, public art, and community history.
