A closer look at south Indio

Golf, water and a forest of palms.

The Plantation Golf Club is a private golf destination at 50994 Monroe Street in Indio. Founded in 1996, its course was designed by Brian Curley with consulting from Fred Couples. Mark Miller’s photographs from November 2, 2026 offer a view of its landscape: long corridors of palms, bright bunkers and greens shaped around water.

Start with access. Plantation is member-owned. Its published rules require guests to be accompanied by a member, and membership inquiries begin through current members. Arrange access before making plans.

Read the landscape through the photographs

The aerial perspective makes the relationship between golf and its setting unusually clear. Closely spaced palms form repeated vertical lines across the fairways. Water curves around the foreground greens, while the broad view places the course beside residential roofs, open parcels and the mountain horizon. These are observations from the photographs, rather than a claim about how a particular hole plays.

Water & green placement

The curved lake creates a strong visual boundary between closely grouped playing surfaces. Bunkers sit beside the greens and along the water’s edge. The photograph reveals their arrangement, but does not establish carry distances or identify the holes.

Palms & sight lines

The palms are central to the course’s visual identity. Their long shadows make the spacing especially readable from above, alternating between open turf and denser planted corridors. Aerial openness and a golfer’s eye-level view can feel very different.

The surrounding landscape

The wide photograph shows the course within the eastern valley’s mix of neighborhoods and open land. It is useful context for understanding the setting. Adjacent homes and parcels have their own ownership and access arrangements.

About these numbers. Parentheses preserve the additional figures printed by the club. Its Front-tee Hole 10 listing reads 596 (470), an unusually long figure relative to the other tees. Confirm the current scorecard and routing with the golf shop; no total yardage is calculated here.

Course rating & slope

Rating estimates scoring difficulty for a scratch golfer; slope describes relative difficulty for a bogey golfer. The club lists regular and alternative ratings for each tee group.

A practice setting built around the game

Plantation’s published practice facilities include a range with north- and south-facing orientations, a short-game area, a wedge range and two putting greens, including one described as completely flat. That separates several different practice tasks: full swings, distance control, recovery shots and putting.

Full swing & wedges

The main range and separate wedge range support different lengths of practice. Confirm the day’s operating areas and range instructions with club staff.

Short game & putting

A dedicated short-game area and two putting greens provide space to work near the green. Practice access follows the club’s membership and guest arrangements.

Membership, guests & club etiquette

The club identifies itself as private and member-owned. Its public membership page directs interested applicants to current members. It does not publish an initiation fee or dues schedule there, so this guide does not present a historic or third-party figure as a current cost.

Guests must be accompanied by a member. The published rules also prohibit cell phones in the clubhouse and on the course. Before an arranged visit, ask your host about arrival, dress, footwear, check-in and any current instructions.

Considering a home nearby?

A golf view, proximity to a club and club membership are separate considerations. A nearby property does not by itself establish playing privileges. Compare the home’s actual outlook, road access and community rules alongside any separately confirmed membership opportunity.
