Blue Agave (Agave tequilana) is from the arid regions of Mexico, not the Coachella Valley. Although it grows well here, it’s a cultivated, non-native species. In contrast, native Agave deserti support local wildlife and adapt better to the valley’s harsher conditions. If sustainability or habitat restoration is a goal, choose native agaves.
