The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway carries visitors from the desert floor of Chino Canyon into the alpine wilderness of Mount San Jacinto. During the approximately 10-minute journey, the world’s largest rotating tram cars travel more than 2.5 miles, offering constantly changing views of rugged cliffs, Palm Springs, and the Coachella Valley below.
At the Mountain Station, elevation 8,516 feet, visitors can explore observation decks, dine overlooking the desert, browse the natural history museum, or venture into Mount San Jacinto State Park. More than 50 miles of hiking trails extend from the station, ranging from quiet forest walks to challenging backcountry routes. Winter can bring snow and cold mountain conditions, while summer offers a refreshing escape from the desert heat.
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is more than a scenic ride—it is one of Southern California’s most dramatic transitions between two completely different natural environments.
