The Palms Golf Club is a small gated residential and private-golf community in southeastern La Quinta, near PGA West. Rather than a large master-planned resort, The Palms is a low-density enclave of about 100 single-family homes arranged around a golf-first private club. The residential offering includes recurring villa-style plans, larger custom and modified homes, private pools, casitas, fairway frontage, mature palms and mountain views, with most of the community’s housing dating to the 2000s.
The residential association—generally identified as The Village at The Palms—and The Palms Golf Club are separate. Homeownership should not be assumed to include golf or clubhouse privileges, and public information indicates club membership is optional for homeowners. The club centers on an 18-hole course designed by Fred Couples and Brian Curley, restored and modernized in 2025, along with a two-sided practice range, short-game facilities, locker rooms, daytime dining and a no-advance-tee-time playing model.
The location favors quiet, privacy and golf-course atmosphere over walkability. Old Town La Quinta, Highway 111 shopping and most everyday services require a drive. For buyers, the most important differences are found home by home and lot by lot: size and renovation quality, sun orientation, golf-ball exposure, course-maintenance activity, views, HOA obligations and whether club membership fits the household.
